About Chayan Sarkar
International performing artist and Producer, Chayan Sarkar was born on July 24,1972 in Kolkata (Calcutta), India and grew up in a traditional Bengali family.Chayan has delved deep into the sub-culture of modern India to create entertaining sub-continental confections that fuse film with the lush music and dance styles of the Bollywood genre.
Chayan, an Indian folk singer, choreographer and actor has performed and produced a myriad of Indian folk, popular music and performing arts in India, Europe and Australia. Some of his famous and successful multimedia music theatres are Snake Charmers and Snake Goddess, Bhagavad Gita, Bengalee Boatmen, Bollywood Dreams, Bollywood Dreamgirl. He has been working with the intertwine of Bollywood classics and its glamour and traditional Indian roots viewed through western curiosity.
He grew up in Kolkata, in a Bengali family which has been directly involved with the production of plays and films in Bengal since the 70's.In 1993, Chayan was awarded La Connaissance De La France scholarship for his cultural excellence by the French Government. He lead a team of four Indian performing artists/linguists to represent Indian culture in France.
Chayan has also worked with French television (France 2 and France 3), Radio Swiss Romande, Canadian Radio, Gamma Presse Image as an advisor in film production management, media consultancy, public relations and content interpretation. Some of the famous documentaries he worked on include Calcutta-Bombay 40 hours in train for faut pas rever series produced by France 3 and the controversial documentary on Dr. Jack Preger of Calcutta produced by France 2.
Chayan has a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Griffith University, Australia, a Superior Diploma in Modern French Literature from Alliance Francaise, a Certificate in Australian Community Radio Training Core Curriculum etc.
Chayan is fluent in Bengali, French, English, Hindi, and Nepalese.Chayan has worked with Jean-Pierre Bozon (French Director), Marie-Julie Dallaire (Canadian Director), Benoit Lange(Swiss photographer), Alexander De Grunwald (UK), Farrukh Dhondy (UK), C P Padmakumar (India) and with several other distinguished personalities around the globe.He also volunteered for Mother Teresa's missionaries of charity in Kolkata and is an official friend of Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Chayan is on a mission to increase the global audience of the Indian film and music industry through his artistic and marketing expertise in the international entertainment industry. He has held significant fundraising, consulting and business development roles in Australia with high profile organisations. In 2004 he accompanied the Queensland Premier to India in a trade mission promoting Australian locations and film production services to the Indian film industry.Chayan was awarded National Multicultural Marketing Award in Australia in 2007 by New South Wales Govt.for his business Bollywood Dreams.

For educational institutions involved in film, multimedia and entertainment, we can arrange internships and industry experience for students as well as successfully market available skills and resources, courses and programs to the target region. Bollywood Dreams® advises and supports Indian film and the entertainment industry for audience development and distribution of Bollywood/Indian films in the international market.
Bollywood dancing school
Inspired by the success of his Bollywood dance productions, Bollywood Dreams and Bollywood Dreamgirl, the artistic director and Bollywood enthusiast, Chayan Sarkar launched his Bollywood Dreams dance school in early 2005.
It is the most popular Bollywood dance institute in Queensland, We are dedicated to developing performers and dancers with the real essence of Bollywood dance moves and routines. Our instructors are friendly, passionate Indian dancers and Bollywood fans, with semi-classical and classical backgrounds. They are also trained in folk styles such as Bhangra, Dandia and have very creative choreography. Some have worked in Bollywood films.
Dancing classes currently are held in Brisbane and Melbourne. The Brisbane venues include the Metro Arts Building in Edward St the city, the Stores Rehearsal Room at the Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm. Due to many requests, we plan to open more centres Australia wide in 2010-12 and we are accepting expression of interests from intersted people in franchising opportunities.Melbourne classes are usually held at Fitzroy or Prahran area.However we dont have any permanent venues in Melbourne.
