The Last Weaver is in pre-production in India (March 2010)
Chayan Sarkar is currently directing and producing a feature film (drama) in English language called The Last Weaver.The film is being made under Indian banner C Sarkar films Pvt. Ltd. and is currently in pre-production.The Last Weaver is to be completed by the end of 2010 and will take part in various international film festivals around the globe.It is a feature drama based on an intriguing story of an Indian weaver.
The film has attracted talents like Amole Gupte ( Writer of Taare Zameen Par and actor of Kaminey) , Pandit Viswa Mohan Bhatt (Grammy winner for Dead Man Walking), Mr.C.P.Padmakumar ( Director and Art Director of legendary film maker G.Aravindan from South India), Celestino Gianotti (Italy).The Last Weaver is to be filmed entirely in South India.
Some proceeds from this film would go to struggling weavers and their family in an Indian village (particularly to women weavers) so that they can continue their traditional weaving independently.All world distribution rights for The Last Weaver are available through Bollywood Dreams Pty.Ltd. and early enquiries are welcome.
